Carolina Herrera’s Worst Fashion Week Nightmare

Posted in , , , , , , , , ,

For the second installment of "New York Greats" series by Nymag.com, Elettra Wiedemann spoke with Carolina Herrera in a very candid interview where the fashion designer confess about her stress & insanity during pre–Fashion Week show.
One wouldn't assume it, with her impeccably coiffed hair, glowing skin, and lilting Venezuelan accent, but Carolina Herrera has had her fair share of harried Fashion Week moments. In fact, Herrera suffers from a recurring nightmare in which she’s unable to present her collection. Despite her nightmare through the years, she has been able to hide it and keep calm.

Herrera Said:
“You know I always have a nightmare before the shows — always the same. It’s the day of the show — 1200 people, full! And I have to come out and say, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, I’m not ready. You have to come back tomorrow.’ [laughs] And I think I’ve wanted to get rid of that nightmare for years, and I cannot. I’m always very nervous but I dont show it, because if you show it, and you have a whole team working with you, and they see you out of your mind, so nervous — never! You have to be all calm, and everything is going to be perfectly all right. And don’t forget that we are only making dresses.”
It is a very sensible and seasoned perspective and a wise advice from a fashion superstar.
Carolina Herrera's fall collection will show tomorrow Monday, February 11, at 10 a.m. in Lincoln Center's Theater. Can't Wait!!
