After months of buzz, Rihanna's affordably-priced collection line for British high street chain River Island made its debut Saturday at London Fashion Week! The show, which featured bra tops, midriffs, mesh, thigh-split skirts and boots, was one of the most anticipated events of London Fashion Week. Speaking backstage after the show, Rihanna said:
"The girl that would wear this is full of personality, full of sass, but just loves fashion - most of all, they love fashion. They want to express themselves through what they wear and that's what I like to do."
Tom Sykes of The Daily Beast does not agree with Rihanna  and called it "a horror show".
The reviews for her collection which unlike the rest of the collections we’ve been seeing lately, which won’t land in stores until fall, this one was a spring/summer showing and will be available to snap up come March 5 are in, and they aren't pretty.

"Even before Rihanna unveiled her unsurprisingly slutty and yet tiresomely predictable collection for River Island at London Fashion Week tonight, there were many who said that it was a mistake to allow the world’s most famous pop star of the moment to hijack an event which is supposed to be about celebrating creativity, passion and original thinking in fashion (as opposed to lazily co-opting celebrity endorsement to shift mediocre, mass-market product, which is what McDonalds is for)." The Daily Beast
"A bit like model Kate Moss's first collection for Topshop, so 'autobiographical' was this collection that a model in a bikini was accessorised with a gold body chain (another frim RiRi style essential) and one of the singer's edgier tunes provided the sountrack at one point."
“I can understand the high street brands wanting to have visibility, but London fashion week’s integrity rests on it showcasing the best of the UK’s design talent. It would be dangerous if this became compromised due to scheduling issues.” Giles Deacon about Rihanna's show during #LFW as a cynical marketing exercise.
